What a crazy first few days!! We have done so many things in such a little amount of time it is crazy! I am so grateful to be here and am having the best time ever! So here’s what you’ve missed!
Day one was pretty fun after the craze of girls got to the Holiday Inn near the airport! Once we got to the hotel there was a bit of time to chill, which was extremely needed for the girls who had to travel far to be here! We then went upstairs and had a small orientation followed by the meeting some of our lovely sponsors like Hi-Tec Canada, who fitted us for some amazingly comfortable shoes (I got awesome purple ones!), Golden Glamour Goddesses, Schwarzkopf Osis Hair and beauty Products, PS – Pretty Sweet (who made the best cookies I have ever tasted, I am actually still eating them!), and of course Free The Children! It was a great afternoon of getting to know our sponsors a bit more, by the way Thank You!! We got to taste test some deliciously sinful sweets and got some free hair care products!! I felt so spoiled!
We also got to meet the current Miss Teen Canada World 2012 Megha!!
Day 2 was so beyond hectic, I do not even know where to begin! We had a great breakfast and then headed up to the conference room for a ferociously full day. We had our photo shoot, video shoot, and interview with the judges! My photo shoot was short and sweet and I had an AMAZING dress sponsored to me by Bridal Boutique. It was so unique, bright, and just perfect for the photo-shoot! The video shoot was very late but totally worth it once we get our video cds! The whole day was crazy, so crazy in fact that some video shoots went to late some girls did not even make it back to their rooms until 1 am! It will all pay off in the end, this is a once in a life time opportunity!
Day 3 was the best day of my life! Actually though. We got up at an ungodly hour and headed downtown Toronto for an appearance on Breakfast Television! Some girl got interviewed as well! The BT crew were super nice and made it really easy for us nervous girls! After that our tummies were rumbling and breakfast was calling so we headed over to the Grenadier Café for a hearty meal to get us ladies through the big day ahead! CN Tower was calling our names and we had a wonderful view once we got up to the platform of the 553.33 meter high building. The glass floors were the coolest part and the scariest haha! By the time this was all over we headed over to the Distillery District to meet Rob for a lively scavenger hunt! The prizes included fresh oysters, cookies, gelato, smoothies, phone cases, buttons, tarts, hair-ties, and the $45 gift card! I had such an enjoyable time there! Rob put on a very delightful hunt! Café Uno sponsored our lunch, thank you by the way, of burgers and hot dogs!
Costa Blanca was kind enough to sponsor a $50 gift card for all ofthe delegates so we headed over there for a quick shop and I ended up with more clothes than I bargained for, oh well! Haha Thank You Costa Blanca for the Gift Card!!
New Music Live on Much Music was next and what I was looking forward to since I heard we had the chance to attend!!!!!!!!!! I got to meet my idol Phoebe Dykstra and Lauren Toyota as well. They were extremely cheerful and full of nice things to say, they were a lot shorter than I anticipated, though. After all that was said and done it was time to head back to the hotel and crash for the night.
Today was a little bit easier going but still packed! Breakfast at Grenadier Café for a big meal again and just like that our day had started! Yoga at Union was first to check off the list. Samara was our instructor and it was a very packed class. After working out in our shoes from Hi Tec Canada and doing yoga constantly the past few months this workout class was a huge need! I definitely got to know Bianca and Madison a lot more! Class was short, sweet, and worked all the muscles that needed a good working out! Second down the list of activities was rehearsals, rehearsals, rehearsals!
My favorite instructor Sean was back for nationals to teach us all of our dance numbers for the final night! He also showed us the perfect pageant stance and how to walk like the elegant women we are! Once we had finished rehearsals and lunch it was on the bus again and off to the Eaton Centre for some MORE SHOPPING and DINNER. Garage gave us another gift card and Urban Eatery gave us some gift cards for dinner! I got way too much clothes! I am going to have to get another suit case for my flight home. I had a delicious salad for dinner and enjoyed all the attention from people in the mall! We got lots of photo with some fans from the UK and some mini princesses as well! It has been a long few days and I am trying to soak up every single moment! This is a once in a life time opportunity and it has been the best experience of my life so far! I cannot wait for the ZOO TOMORROW!!!

If I were able to go anywhere in the world I could dream of I would choose Italy! Why? I will tell you why and who I would bring with me. Italy is so full of culture and beauty, who wouldn’t want to go there? The landmarks, the beaches, the vineyards! Around every corner there is something new and fascinating to discover, amazing people to meet, and delicious wines and foods to taste!
For history geeks like me, just the history of Italy is interesting enough to make me want to spend months there travelling, learning, and soaking in every moment! Italy’s Roman Empire was one of the greatest the world has ever seen and made immeasurable contributions to humanity to this day. Without Italy who knows what the world would be like to date. What person wouldn’t want to go where it all started? (We can forgive them for World War II). Italy has everything a girl could ask for – Fascinating history, beautiful scenery, beautiful people, amazing wines and foods, and unbelievable works of art!
Italy’s art and architecture in its self is so mesmerizing. I would kill to go see the Vatican City, Colosseum, and Leaning Tower of Pisa! Just being able to say you saw Michelangelo’s ‘David’ or got to travel Leonardo da Vinci’s home town!! How incredible would that be?! So many extraordinary works of art came from Italy and to be able to see it all would be an honor and a blessing!
Not only is Italy full of history but a beautiful beautiful place! I would love to take a ride in a gondola in the Grand Vanal! Even the beaches are beyond breath taking! La Pelosa, Rabbit beach, or even Cala Mariolu! I would love to spend a few days soaking up the sun with my friends! The vineyards look wonderful as well. Some of the finest wines come from Italy so being able to go see how they are created would be such a treat!
Italy is not a place to conquer alone, though. Having a few friends to be there and experience every moment with me is the only way to travel! I don’t think travelling with friends would be a problem at all; I have traveled with them before and had a blast! My friends and I get along really well and we would be too busy seeing the sights, learning Italian, and trying every single Italian dish we can get our hands on (in this case it is completely OK to pig out we will be in Italy after all it would be rude not too!). Italy would sincerely be a dream vacation come true!
Thank You S-trip for sponsoring a dream vacation to Miss Teen Canada World 2013!

Oh too be young again hahah! Just kidding I know I am still a child to most but sometimes I do wish I could go back in time! A times where mom did everything and nap time was whenever we felt like it! Times when Doctor Papa would take care of any owie and Dad could fix any tears. A time when you fell asleep on the couch and woke up in your bed, that sure doesn’t happen anymore. With each birthday little things like that seem to disappear – welcome to being an adult I guess!
Remember when birthdays were the best day of the year? Breakfast in bed, all the presents a girl could ask for, cake! Birthdays seem to lose their spark and turn into any other day of the year. You don’t get to stay home from school and be spoiled by your family. It’s less significant each year. I suppose it’s all apart of growing up. Growing up does have it perks though! I am now officially legal across Canada! So I guess that’s a bonus! Next birthday I will no longer be a teenie bopper, though, kind of makes me sad!
Growing up, so far, I have learned a lot. I have learned to love and forgive; to bite my lip and be an adult. My mom taught me to be independent and learn how to stand on my own two feet, with out any help. I do have a lot of growing up to do still and that is quite alright with me! I have made some amazing friends and been to some amazing places. So where do I go from here? University, more travel, career? I don’t even know where to begin. For now, though, my focus is on Miss Teen Canada-World. Everything after that is just an adventure I will take in stride. I am still young and have my entire life ahead and so many things I wish to accomplish! Great things will come to those who stay positive, so positive I will stay! I have been so privileged and blessed. I could not be more thankful!
Just a few things that were on my mind! xox
Hello Hello! Sorry it has been much too long since I have I blogged, here’s what is new!
First off, Nationals is coming so quick! Toronto is going to be here in 16 days! Who is excited? It will be so much fun to meet everyone in person and see all my pageant sisters from Alberta. There will be so many new opportunities and new faces I cannot wait. I wish the week of nationals would last forever! Where else would I get to meet Luke Bilyk and Megha Sandhu, along with gorgeous delegates from all over Canada in the same week? No matter what the outcome of the pageant I am so blessed to be apart of this amazing journey. It has made me a better person and that much closer to the person I wish to be. This pageant has taught me to be more outgoing, confident, selfless, elegant and I haven’t even got to nationals yet!
Unfortunately, though, my entire family won’t be able to attend to watch the finals. My dad is flying out for China today but who can blame him, someone has to pay for my university right? He has accepted a 2 year contract out there and will not be around for nationals and that is OK! I will make him watch it online from China haha. My cheering section probably won’t be huge, it may only be my mom there but hey him being back in China means really cool vacations, which is a bonus! I know no matter where he is in the world he will be cheering me on along with my other family!
With that being said! I have registered for my classes at University of Victoria and will be pursuing my International Business degree. Victoria is going to be a blast! I will have a lot of my friends from high-school living there as well! Maybe I will even become friends with some of the BC delegates and we can meet up – how cool would that be?
Having this title has been so rewarding and opened up a lot of doors and hopefully many more in the future. I love being Miss Teen Central Alberta World 2013 and could not be more grateful for those who have helped me along the way! Like Bridal Boutique and everyone there; they are sponsoring me a dress and asked me to do a fashion show for them! Stay tuned for a post on that!
That’s everything you have missed in the life of Miss Teen Central Alberta World 2013!
Edmonton has many tourist attractions but is most known for North America’s largest mall, West Edmonton Mall. With over 800 stores and services, people from all over Canada, and the world, come to see the 5.3 million square foot attraction. West Ed has approximately 30.8 million yearly visitations making it the number one tourist attraction in the province, WOW!
WEM holds world records like, largest indoor amusement park, largest indoor wave pool, and largest parking lot so it’s no wonder why it would take 3 whole days to see everything in the mall! The mall also has more than 100 eating venues, 2 clubs, an arena, a shooting range, a bowling alley, two hotels, a sea lion attraction, a huge Scotia Bank theater, two mini golf courses, a casino, and not to mention a pirate ship in it!
Established in 1981 by the Ghermezians, the mall, equivalent to 48 street blocks, is the world’s tenth largest mall and my favorite place to shop! It holds a variety of fun events from roller derby competitions, cheer-leading and karate competitions, to the Taste of Bourbon letting you sample all the restaurants down Bourbon Street; which was delicious by the way! The Marble Slab Creamery was my FAVORITE, who doesn’t love ice cream?
There is never a dull moment when visiting WEM! It has everything a mom, dad, grandparents, kids, and young adults could ask for! There are activities for Mom, obviously it IS a mall, like shopping, spas, and more shopping; activities for the kids like mini golf, bowling, swimming, climbing, skating, and the amusement park; Dad also has things to do, for once in a mall, like the Comic strip, Hooters, shooting range, and Casino!; Grandma and Grandpa can go enjoy a huge Bingo hall and play for hours; There are also two clubs and a dinner theater that any teenager/young adult can enjoy, as long as you’re of age, duh!
I highly recommend visiting West Edmonton Mall at least once! There is something new and exciting around every corner and it definitely does not disappoint! Located at 8882 170 St NW Edmonton, AB T5T 4V4, right in the heart of the West and close to everything!!
Big Thanks to Niagara Falls for Sponsoring Miss Teen Canada’s 2nd Blog Challenge
Signature Towels is best known for their custom embroidered, high quality monogrammed towels and bath robes. They have an assortment of towels and robes, with array of colors and fonts. You can create an immaculate present for the rare person in your life. Or just order one for yourself! They are perfect as a gift or for everyday life! They can be used as decor for the bathrooms in the house or as a towel for the beach. You can get your name or initials embroidered on them in almost any font you choose, as well. These towels are thoughtful, personal, and luxurious. If I were to create a commercial for them this is how it would go.
First I would pick the Personalized Bath Towel to create a commercial for. I would have five different scenes. All would be different shots from everyday activities that require a towel. There would be no sounds from the scene only music – Blessed by Brent Dennen .I would need ten characters, and 10 extras for the last scene, all of their ages would range. I would also need an adorable English Mastiff for my fourth scene. Every scene would have a different length and every landscape or background image would vary. This is how each scene would play out;
The entire commercial has no sounds from the scenes. The only sound is Blessed by Brent Dennen. Scene one is a ten second scene on a bright sunny summer day at the beach. The camera is focused on four sandy custom towels with Mike in Jokerman font and blue, Joanne in Park Avenue font and purple, Lucy in Flower
font and pink, and Jack in Prince-town font and red, all in one row. The camera scans the towels from one end to the other end than pans out to wide screen of all of them but still focused on the towels. In the background is a blurred scene of two women and two men playing beach volleyball, laughing, and having a great time
Mike played by Jamie Spilchuck, Joanne played by Carly Foulkes, Lucy played by Gillian Vigman, and Jack played by Jackson Mcqueen.
Scene two is a five second scene of two friends who are on a speed boat at the lake. One person is holding on to their hat and on to a signature towel. They lose their grasp and looking back in shock; it flies away and out of the back of the speed boat. It lands perfectly in the water so the initials RS, in Lucian font, are visible. The boat has to turn around so the person on board can scoop their favorite green towel out of the water before it sinks! The boats jets off into the sun set leaving the perfect water trail behind it.
Scene three is a three second scene of a loving mom and her six year old child in a pink custom towel, with ‘Gracie’ in Curlz font perfectly stitched into it. They are in a beautiful bathroom with a big bubble bath behind them. The little girl has the biggest smile on her face, mirroring the image of her mother. She is giggling as her mom dries her off with the towel. Her mom is laughing too, and then kisses her on the forehead and smiles.
The actors in this scene would be Sophia Grace as the child and her mom would be played by actress Jordana DePaula
Scene four is a seven second scene of a teenage boy sitting on a stool with a kiddie pool in front of him. He is in his backyard and the weather is beautiful and bright. The grass is green and the flowers are bloomed.
In the kiddie pool is a huge English Mastiff just finishing being rinsed off; he still has some suds on him. The boy reaches down and grabs a Granite colored towel with the name ‘Scooby’ custom stitched into it, in Tango font. As the boy goes to dry off Scooby he shakes and getting everything wet including his owner. The boy laughs and starts to dry off his childhood pet with the granite custom embroidered towel.
Teenage Boy played by Miles Lancaster
The final scene is five seconds long and at a bridal shower. The bride is handed a beautiful red box with a black ribbon on it addressed to her. She opens up her gift, and inside is two white personalized bath towels with ‘Tracy’ and ‘George’ in Edwardian Script. Perfect for her new bathroom, in her new house; when she starts her new life with the one that she loves most. Everyone around her looks ecstatic about this amazing gift, and everyone is smiling. You can tell giving the bride these custom towels were the perfect bridal shower gift. Everyone is happy and laughing. The music would fade out. The bride looks up to the screen and says ‘Signature Towels – Perfect Gift, Perfect Everyday’ while the words appear at the bottom of the screen and the commercial would end.
Bride played by Amber Heard
The variety of scenes just shows how dynamic a Signature Towel can be. They are perfect as a gift, at the beach, at home, or as decor. They have a variety of different colors and fonts so you can create a towel as unique as the person you wish to give it to or to match the theme of the bathroom. Thank You so much to Signature Towels for the Sponsor!!!
Edmontonians going Green!
There isn’t any particular building in Edmonton that is greener than the other but there is plan to start making all of them green! There is a big movement to be environmentally friendly, as there should be, and Edmonton has jumped on board! Going green consists of many different factors. Edmonton has banned together to start a Green Building Plan. What is a green building exactly and what does it look like?
A green building is a building that uses environmentally friendly methods and materials, during the construction, to create a sustainable design that will be efficient during the operation. Creating a green building means looking at efficient management of energy and water, management of material resources and waste, protection of health and the indoor environment, reinforcement of natural systems, and integrating the design approach. All of these play a key factor in Edmonton’s Green Building Plan.
Edmonton’s Green Building Plan is looking to not only create new efficient buildings but also
renovate existing buildings to be green, as well. The goal of the plan is to improve the environmental, health, and socio-economic performance of all types of buildings in the city: commercial, institutional, industrial, mixed-use,
multi-family residential and single-family residential buildings. This plan has been developed to support The Way We Green: Edmonton’s Environmental Strategic Plan. Going green will be beneficial for everyone and for the years to come. Edmonton looked at what buildings will be around in 2050 and is making sure all buildings will meet the LEED silver standard.
The plan will cover all types of buildings from industrial, commercial, institutional, and residential. Green buildings come in all shapes and sizes, and have so many different specifications that make it qualify as being ‘green’ like:
- LEED standards
- Rooftop Gardens, Reflective White Roof Systems
- Recycle Bins
- Energy and water efficiency
- Lowering carbon emissions
- Enhancing and protecting biodiversity
- Reducing waste
The list goes on and on and even the smallest green change will make an impact and be one step closer to a greener city. Every little action has a reaction and in this case it will brighten everyone’s future! The city will be greener, the air will be cleaner, and life will better. Edmonton’s Green Building Plan is just one step closer to a better world.
I am honored to hold the title of Miss Teen Central Alberta World 2013 but along with the title, in a new city, comes new challenges. Especially without the support of a community that has known me my entire life. Not originally being from Edmonton pageant tasks have proved to be quite difficult. Difficult but not impossible.
I am working hard to raise money here and back home as well as find sponsors. Being in a new city, though, no one knows me here. So I am calling on the people I do know to help me as much as possible! I will be selling handmade bracelets made by R Jewelry for $10, collecting bottles, and taking donations! So please what ever you are able to help out with is amazing! All proceeds will go to Free the Children Foundation and will help with my score at nationals.
It may not be as extravagant as some fundraising being put together but it is the best that I can do to best of my abilities being in a new city. So please show some support and help out! Let your friends and family know! If you are interested in donating bottles, money, or buying a bracelet let me know!
I am constantly thinking up new ways to raise money for Free the Children so stay tuned!!
Thank You so much for your support it means A LOT <3
A lot of people may think that my platform is cliche or ‘typical’ but it comes from a place that is near and dear to my heart. This is to explain to everyone why I chose poverty and where my platform comes from.
I am Canadian through and through but I have not spent my entire life in Canada. I was blessed to have been able to travel and grow up in places people can only dream of; Beautiful places like Thailand, Penang, Borneo, and Beijing! Travelling Asia has been so rewarding but eye opening at the same time. Being given the chance to see these places was incredible. I got to ride elephants in Thailand, ride horses on the beach in Brazil, hike up to the middle of the jungle to feed wild orangutans, and see the Great Wall of China (more than once).
Living and travelling these places was absolutely life changing but it was not all beauty. With every new city, or small town I came across, like any other place, had it’s under privileged. It was nothing like the homeless you see downtown Vancouver. Children, who could not be more than 10, were begging for money at traffic lights; men who could not walk, did not have a home, food, or even spare change were lying in the street begging for someone to pity them enough to spare some money. Seeing such extreme poverty at such a young age really takes its toll.
At first I could pass by it and pity those who were less fortunate, hope for the best and move on. It was not until I got lost in a temple on the top of a mountain, with my best friend and brother. We got separated from my mom and had no idea what to do or where to go, this is when the a beautiful monk came and got our attention. We had met him before and shared bracelets but he must have seen the panic in our eyes. He was sworn to silence because of his religion so he just waved and led the way;
He took us to a room with all the other monks from the temple where they had made lunch. They must have thought we were hungry and saw we were totally beside ourselves. They had given us a bowl of food, (saying no was not an option) and let us wait with them until my mom realized we weren’t back down the mountain. I could not believe the kindness of these men who did not know us. It was their selflessness that was the first step to my platform.
After that I had the opportunity to attend We Day, hosted by Free the Children Foundation, which was surreal. Free the Children’s founder Craig Kielburger started a movement that has impacted youth all over the world. Their story to improve conditions for people at home and over seas was truly inspiring. They have been so successful in helping bring clean water, health care, sanitation to third world towns, and so many more success stories that I vowed to help. The entire experience was moving and sparked a need to make a difference like they have.
So instead of hoping for better I strive to make a difference in their lives. Anything that will put a smile on the child in the street or help the man who had lost his hope is the most rewarding feeling I could have ever imagined. Even just the smallest gestures of kindness made a difference; like letting the little girls touch my lashes to see if they were real, taking photos with children who had never seen a blonde, or sparing the money I had when I could, while travelling.
Most do not realize how lucky they are just having a roof over their head and some food in their belly, a lot seem to take that for granted these days. Travelling has made me see how much people need help. They are stuck in poverty while the world has plenty of money to take those who need it most out of it. I believe if we band together we can make a true difference in peoples lives and show that we are not a lost generation.
